Why does my package of Porter-Cable galvanized finishing nails say not to use them outside? - galvanized nails
Porter-Cable I bought galvanized 15 ga. Finishing nails for use in the creation of boards (5 / 4 "cedar). When I started, I realized that the package does not mean" for use outdoors - indoors only. "What's up with that? Thought galvanized nails were exactly what I wanted to work outdoors.
All the ideas, why not for outdoor use and above all, do you think would be good to use for this purpose despite what the package says?

First, they are not fire-galvanized are electrolytic. Therefore, they are not intended for use outdoors. Second, screws or galvanized nails acids react with cedar or redwood, and black. This results in a flash. The best way to back up your plate cover screws are stainless steel. For 5 / 4 "disks, you need to 2-1/2" screws. They are expensive, but worth it.
Boards will never finish nails below. Once the sun hits them, they will withdraw. I call down the screws.
